One of the Best Telescope reviews we personally have is the Orion StarBlast 4.5 EQ Reflector – Telescope which  is a great deal for the price. The Orion StarBlast 4.5 EQ Reflector – Telescope can see the moon and stars clear and sharp. I have seen Saturn and it is wonderful with its rings and cloud bands. The moon looks sharp with this Orion StarBlast 4.5 EQ Reflector – Telescope and is not to bright. Many think this is the best telescope to have under $250 just for stargazing or looking at the moon. For the beginner just know this telescope will get you hooked! It doesn’t require extensive knowledge to get a lot of enjoyment out of this telescope yet advanced enough for the avid star gazer.  So, if your looking for the best telescope for the money then take a closer look at this one.

I look for lower focal length when choosing my best telescope for personal use and this one has it.  The optical quality of the Orion StarBlast 4.5 EQ Reflector – Telescope is exceptional with the very fast f/4.0 focal ratio and High Quality Expanse 15mm and 6mm eyepieces not only does the Starblast bring out astonishing 66 degree fields of view it is ideal for future astrophotography.  As the Best Telescope Buying Guide website reviews more will set this one a highly favorable telescope.  I was able to see the ring nebula right away at 30x and with 75x it was easily definable the first try.  Jupiter is a sight to behold, at 30x I could easily define the belts, and at 75x with the Expanse eyepiece and 1 hand on the slow motion control I could REALLY get a good steady view. The mechanical quality was also more than I expected. The EQ-1 mount is very smooth and easy to work with. It took a mere 3 minutes to set my latitude and polar align. There was no stiffness in the slow motion controls at all and using them for fine adjustment while observing is thoughtless. This was the first time I had used an EZ Finder and am very suprised how easy it is to find objects with the adjustable red dot as if I was just looking up with the naked eye and pointing my finger, no more squnting and crowning over to get my full eye into a finderscope. I highly recommend the Orion StarBlast 4.5 EQ Reflector – Telescope! It’s a great beginner, intermediate and avid star gazer favorite when it comes to selecting the best telescope.

  • A wide-field reflector telescope with enough aperture to get great views of the Moon, planets, and many bright deep-sky objects
  • A fantastic general-purpose astronomical telescope – great for the beginner to “test the waters” with mirror optics
  • Works amazingly well with the included Expanse telescope eyepieces which yield a very wide 66-degree apparent field of view -
  • Fast f/4 optics and a short focal length provide a very wide field of view, making it easy to locate celestial objects
  • The EQ-1 equatorial telescope mount makes tracking night-sky objects extremely easy using the included slow-motion controls.
  • Also includes an EZ Finder II reflex sifght for easy aiming, 15mm and 6mm 1.25″ Expanse eyepieces,
  • Collimation cap, Starry Night software, and more! Your first look at the Andromeda galaxy will knock your socks off!

Celestron AstroMaster 90 EQ Equatorial Refractor Telescope 21064 is a dual-purpose telescope that is great for both terrestrial and celestial viewing. The Astro Master 90 EQ Telescope by Celestron produces bright and clear images of the Moon and planets through the telescope ‘s Fully Coated Lens. The Refractor Telescope has a 90mm Lens, giving the user a larger lens than the AstroMaster 70mm EQ Telescope. This larger lens will allow more light through when viewing distant objects, such as the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn. Also, these Celestron Telescopes come with two eyepieces of 50X and 100X magnification, which can pull in objects both near and far away. Celestron AstroMaster 90 EQ Telescopes have an Equatorial Mount that allow the user to follow objects in the sky much easier than an Altazimuth (Alt-az) Mount. Equatorial mounts use a set of counterweights that balances the telescope as it moves, making the movement more smooth. This is also very effective in high magnifications, when the smallest nudge of the telescope will greatly affect the viewing area. In addition, Celestron AstroMaster 90 EQ Refractor Telescopes are very child friendly with its Refractor design, making them easy to maintain and capable to withstand continuous use. These Telescopes come with a Tripod with 1.25″ thick steel legs, providing a rigid and stable platform. For beginners and intermediate users alike picking this as the best telescope for anyone won’t be a bad choice.

Do these features make it the best telescope for you?

Amazon Rating: 4.0/5.0 ★★★★☆

Having chosen the Celestron NexStar 8 SE Telescope as a best Telescope for under $1000 I think was an excellent choice. Comparing the telescope type and size, I looked at the offerings from all of the top manufacturers, such as Celestron, Meade, Orion and Zhumell. I narrowed my choices down to Meade and Celestron, since they were the two with the most appealing SCTs. It was a very tough choice at this stage, as both companies had excellent and competitive products on offer.

amazon buy

I ultimately chose the Celestron NexStar 8 SE Telescope over all others due to its greater portability, and more specifically, its lower weight. Perhaps not entirely by coincidence, it was about one month before Christmas  2010 when I had my perfect advanced telescope chosen.  I suggested the Celestron NexStar 8 SE Telescope, and the rest was history.  Thus began my adventure with my very first Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, the Celestron Nexstar 8 SE.

When deciding on the best telescope for yourself there are so many variables to consider even if your more than the backyard star gazer.  For instance the Celestron NexStar 8 SE is an optical telescope and that is the basic meaning of a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope.  Granted it is a little more detailed than that but the Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope deign helps aid in an overall greater error correction.

StarBright XLT — An Optical System Breakthrough!

A major factor in a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope optical system performance is its transmission-the percentage of light that reaches the focal plane(where the light is focused).  So improving the visual experience is the result of the Starbright XLT.  A coating system  on the reflective surfaces helps optimize that visual experience.

Lunar viewing: Outstanding.

Even under partially cloudy and hazy conditions, extreme magnifications revealed rich detail, subtle color variations, and vivid contrast at the terminator. As a lunar telescope, this telescope was definitely up to the task of detailed lunar surface exploration. The limiting factor was seeing conditions.

Planetary viewing: Outstanding.

Saturn was a visual feast, always appearing clear and sharp, with an obvious view of the Cassini division. On subsequent nights of better viewing, Saturn’s rings were particularly detailed, and the planet’s subtle atmospheric banding became evident, even at 325x magnification. As a planet-viewing instrument, the telescope performed admirably.

Galaxies and Nebulae: Very good.

During DSO viewing, the telescope did surprisingly well, even in its light-polluted surroundings. I was not expecting to see much in terms of deep sky objects (DSOs, essentially any object outside our solar system), so it was shocking to see M42, the Eagle nebula, leap out of the eyepiece so rich with detail.  More observation revealed noticeable colors starting to make themselves apparent, to the point where a green hue, with a hint of purplish-red, were clearly noticed. This telescope had impressive light-grasp, certainly more than expected. An increase in magnification helped to resolve the individual stars of the trapezium itself, with 5 of them displaying themselves distinctly.  At a dark site, I would expect jaw-dropping performance making me think this could be my best telescope I use.

Does all this make it the Best Telescope?

The Celestron Nexstar 8 SE Telescope is a magnificent instrument for visual observation.  I think it is one of the best telescopes for sale available with NICE discounts on Amazon.  Its expansive 8″ aperture, high quality optics, and nearly flawless, easy to use, GoTo and tracking systems, make it a joy to use and a given if your looking for the Best Telescope with a GoTo system . Given all of these qualities, its portability is extremely surprising. Those who might wish to dabble in lunar or planetary photography will enjoy the accuracy of the mount’s tracking, and will be able to produce decent quality images of those objects.  So, objects that require high magnification, and / or long exposures will pose a very serious challenge. With a better mount, this 8″ SCT OTA would easily rise to the task of producing stunning, long exposure, DSO images. Those considering such an upgrade patch in the future would do well to purchase this OTA.

I’ve taken a poll on various forums to see if this is a readers favorite.  They say it is the best telescope under $1000 for the GoTo and tracking system.  Keep in mind choosing the best telescope for yourself means there is no right or wrong answer.  People have different criteria so the best telescope for one doesn’t exactly mean it is the best telescope for another.  Keep in mind if your a beginner learning to find things in the sky without computer assistance is something you should do BUT picking this as your best telescope won’t be a bad decision at all because we all like gadgets and a motorized tracking system like this  has it’s perks also.

Pros:

  • Excellent OTA quality with sharp, high contrast optics, and better than expected light-grasp.
  • Flawless GoTo and accurate object tracking.
  • Perfect platform for visual astronomy.
  • Good platform for lunar / solar / planetary photography.
  • Portable and lightweight, for its aperture.
  • Quick and easy to set up or tear down.

Cons:

  • Single fork arm and tripod not suitable for long exposure or high magnification astrophotography; highly prone to vibration.
  • Somewhat paltry selection of accessories: comes with only one eyepiece, and no power adapter.
  • Possible quality control issues; be sure to inspect your unit carefully upon arrival

I love this Celestron 127EQ PowerSeeker Telescope!  The Best Telescope for the Amateur Astronomer or backyard enthusiast like me could be this telescope because this scope offers power, affordability, and quality. The precision mount allows for easy tracking of objects across the sky, and has the ability to be upgraded with a motor drive for under $50.  It also comes with a 3x Barlow Lens, which most comparable Telescopes do not.  Setup was quick and easy.  The mount is extremely sturdy as well.  I would recommend the Celestron 127EQ PowerSeeker Telescope to anyone purchasing this model, a collimation tool/eyepiece is an important accessory.

If you are looking for more bang for your buck this is a great choice.

I looked up price comparisons and on Amazon the Celestron 127EQ PowerSeeker Telescope is barely over $100.  I couldn’t find a better deal even on other telescopes for sale so this could be the best telescope for the novice.  Don’t think one telescope fit s the mold for everyone.  Certainly, the best telescope can hold different meaning to people but for me the best telescope means two things besides the obvious quality.  My two criteria I use for selecting the best telescope is portability and durability.  Check and check on both counts.  I love this telescope and I think you the best telescope for those reasons when you buy this Newton reflector telescope.

Amazon Rating: 5.0/5.0 ★★★★★

I have a friend who was looking at moderately priced telescopes for sale. Sounds simple right?  But finding the best telescope without knowing what your doing is a daunting task…If you are like me I had to Google every little detail to find out what it all meant and how others set their criteria for choosing the best telescope for themselves.  There are so many to choose from.  However, the Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope could be the best telescope for a beginner.  If you don’t know what you are doing you could end up buying something that really doesn’t work for you. So I decided to take it upon myself to find the best telescope by doing the research for him on some of the best telescopes for sale and eventually came up with the Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope.

You want a telescope like the Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope with a large aperture because that means the more light that can come in the brighter the celestial object will be.  Finding the best telescope could be a headache if you look at the price tags or read the technical details but remember that on a reflector telescope aperture is important in choosing what is the best telescope for you.  A reflector telescope (Newtonian reflector telescope-bares the name of Isaac Newton for the reflector design) offers more bang for the buck because it has more light gathering power due to the design of the inward bent lenses.  The Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope is on an equatorial mount.  This means it has an advantage in its ability to allow the instrument attached to it to stay fixed on any object in the sky.  The equatorial mount allows you to easily track celestial objects as they migrate across the sky once you do a simple polar alignment procedure.  The polar alignment is one of many methods to ensure you have the telescope aligned correctly on the equatorial mount.  This particular SpaceProbe 130ST is a step up from the Orion 130 EQ because it offers better performance for targeting deep-sky objects.  I think this one may be your best telescope for under $249.

What does the 130ST mean?

First, the “ST” stands for “Short Tube” which means it is more compact then the standard model.  Secondly, the 130 is 130mm which is the diameter and that is really the aperture and means the bigger the diameter the more light and the the brighter the object.  The 130mm aperture has the same type of mirror used on much larger reflector telescopes that cost a great deal more.  Of course with Orion the problem isn’t choosing a great telescope but choosing the best telescope to fit your use.  That’s why you might like the Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 Classic Dobsonian Telescope.

The equatorial mount allows you to easily track celestial objects as they migrate across the sky once you do a simple polar alignment procedure.  The polar alignment is one of many methods to ensure you have the telescope aligned correctly on the equatorial mount.

What are others saying about the Orion SpaceProbe 130ST?  Could it be the best telescope for you too?

This telescope is quite fun for a newbie and I consider it the best telescope for the money.

There are so many things to like about this scope.  I definitely consider it the best telescope for the price on Amazon!

Your not alone if you love an Orion telescope. A lot of people think they are the best telescope to buy.  Looking at Amazon you can’t really say it isn’t.  The Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 Classic Dobsonian Telescope has a 5 out of 5 rating on Amazon so it has to considered by buyers as a top choice for under $250 as the best telescope to buy for different reasons.

Reading the reviews it does say it’s a great family telescope.  I can 2nd that because I have my wife and my 3 year old enjoying the night sky with me.  The Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 Classic Dobsonian Telescope has 25 reviews and all say it’s been the best telescope.  This could be one of if not the best telescope for children.  It is great for the beginner but also not intimidating for a child.  I have had a few different telescopes and the XT4.5 stands out as the best telescope for the price.  You get a lot of the higher end quality without the higher end price.  Choosing the best telescope certainly can’t be easy as we all have different ideas but as I’ve said you don’t have to look to far past this telescope unless it’s the XT6 to find the best telescope.

Breaking down the details….

  • The 4.5 or (114mm) refers to the diameter of the tube that gathers the light.  Obviously, the more light that is gathered the better for viewing objects.
  • Dobsonian is the name of the creator of this type of telescope.  It refers to some fancy terms like alt-azimuth and Newtonian telescope.  Design aspects of a alt-azimuth or two axis mount allows the telescope tube to rotate along a perpendicular axis better.  And of course a Newtonian telescope is named after Isaac Newton.  A Newton telescope is a type of reflector telescope so this Dobsonian has aspects of the Newtonian telescope(reflector telescope).
  • The focal length is 910 mm.  What does that mean?  It means the longer the focal length the higher the magnification.  This is good because obviously things are going to be far away.
  • It weighs 17lbs so taking where you go is not a problem.

Why do others say it has been the best telescope for them?

I’m an experienced observer, and I LOVE this telescope!

I was pleasantly surprised at the solid construction. Additionally, a few well-thought-out touches are appreciated. The first being the small rubber bumper on the back of the rocker box     (alt-azimuth mount) to prevent the scope from slamming into the rocker box wall when moving it to the up position. The second is the carry handle.

A very nice and easy to use scope.

The Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 Classic Dobsonian Telescope is an confidence booster. It is easy to setup, even for those completely lacking mechanically aptitude-such as myself.

Update: I bought the Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 Classic Dobsonian Telescope for my nephew who is 8 and he can’t put it down.  It has been extremely easy for him to use.

I got an early Christmas present and it was the Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Telescope.  Me, I am not the professional astronomer so coming at this from that point of view I can’t believe how good this telescope is.  I didn’t need the best telescope but even as a novice backyard gazer I wanted something that would be both portable and long lasting.

amazon buy

Probably like some you want a cool motorized mounted telescope (GoTo telescope) because you think it would be the best telescope but like anything you get what you pay for and when is a computer always right.  Meaning, don’t overlook any of the Orion Skyquest XT Dobsonian Telescopes which are not motor driven. A manual telescope could be the best telescope to learn with because you have to know what to do and not rely on a computer for locating objects.  In my opinion the Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Telescope this may be the best telescope for many.  If your a novice don’t let the technical details scare you.  If your a pro you can’t go wrong adding this one to your rotation.

The Orion Skyquest 8XT Dobsonian Telescope is like the middle child between the XT4.5 and the XT10.  This means you get a lot of the perks from the higher end models but the price point is very affordable for what you get.

With the Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Telescope you can point and view so to speak.  Right out of the box you have what you need to start star gazing.  I personally got great views of the Moon, Jupiter and the Andromeda Galaxy.

Overall if you want the best telescope for a beginner or an intermediate astronomer then take a look at the Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Telescope.

Assembly
The assembly was really easy and took about 20 minutes so don’t worry about not being able to assemble it yourself.

Eyepiece included

The included 25mm Sirius Plossl eyepiece provides a 48-power magnification. You can expand your magnification options by purchasing additional 1.25″ or larger 2″ eyepieces of different focal lengths.

Breaking Down the technical Info:

It has a 8″ aperture.  Meaning the diameter is 8′ and that allows more light to gather which in turn will make the viewing of distant objects better.  This is a great reflector telescope.  A reflector telescope uses lenses that bend inwards.  The light travels in and reflects to a second mirror and then to the eyepiece.  The focal length is 1200mm and that means the longer the focal length the better because that brings objects closer into view(higher magnification).  The focal length is f/5.9 so for instance the lower the number the lower the magnification, the brighter the image and the wider the field.  The technical info is just some of the details you should consider when looking for the best telescope for yourself or anyone.  Remember the best telescope for you may not be the best for someone else.  Consider a couple things.  Do you want to travel with your telescope? This XT8 only ways 41lbs and can easily be transported different places as it easily comes apart in two sections.

We all have our criteria for what makes the best telescope.  I think the best telescope means different things to different people and out of all the reviews I and my buddies write about we are in agreement that the Orion SkyQuest XT10 Classic Dobsonian Telescope is the best telescope we have used.  In the class of the Orion XT telescopes how do you decide which on is the best telescope.  This is how I decide on the best telescope in my arsenal.

amazon buy

First, will this telescope do what I need it to.  Meaning, I do road trips and need a telescope that will travel but also come through and allow me to enjoy the sky.  The Orion SkyQuest XT10 Classic Dobsonian Telescope serves my purpose very well.  I do think it is the best telescope I’ve had the pleasure of trying out.  Secondly, if I’m outside and decide to grab a telescope for a few minutes will I have to go through a lot to set it up.  These two criteria are my first two thing I do in qualifying the best telescope for me.

You can find quit of few very favorable reviews all over the net about why people consider this the best telescope especially for the price.  I personally love the simplistic awesomeness of all the SkyQuest XT’s but this one allows me to see everything and anything.  If your a beginner don’t hesitate on buying this telescope.  The Orion SkyQuest XT10 Classic Dobsonian Telescope in my opinion is unmatched when it comes to price versus use verses durability versus longevity.  I like gazing deep into the sky so I couldn’t be happier with the ability of the XT10.  I can see a very detailed image of Mars,  Jupiter is so vivid that I find myself fixated for hours and Saturn jumps through the telescope with Cassini Division as vivid as the rings themselves.  I can’t say enough as to why it is the best telescope for me but I still haven’t found a problem with the telescope itself.  I know Orion focused on the quality of the scope so the fact the included eyepiece may not be the best for intermediate users as a novice you have what you need to hooked on astronomy.

What are the technical details?

This Orion XT10 is best when viewing far away objects when gathering light is a must.  The 10′ aperture insures you can see just about anything you want.  Remember the larger the aperture the more light gathers thus creating a better image.  It couldn’t be the best telescope for the price without having a lower focal ratio.  It does!  At f/4.7 this means the lower the magnification, the wider the field, and the brighter the image.  Bingo!  It is a reflector telescope with 1200 focal length which means higher magnification.  Obviously, objects are far away so the longer the focal length the better.

What others say.

If your on the fence about this one then get off.  You can’t beat the price for the value.  Don’t buy anything else unless maybe it’s another Orion XT.  I take this one everywhere.  For the money it is certainly the best telescope!

–Awesome for anyone

I was scared it would be to much for me to learn about.  I’m new o astronomy but after a few months I can’t imagine owning a lessor telescope.  It was really the best telescope I could have bought.
